Frank Silva
A native of the sunny island of Puerto Rico, Frank Silva has lived in New London for the last four years. He relocated to Connecticut after a year in the state of Florida. Accepted at UCONN, Frank is completing his Bachelor of Science Degree in Family Studies. Since the moment he came to our area, Frank has established many relationships with different profit and not-for-profit organizations. He served as an AmeriCorps recruitment member for the Girl Scouts and received an educational grant for $3,000. Frank enjoys working with children, and as he may tell you, “To the kids, I am known as Mr. Frank.” He worked as a Teacher’s Assistant at Harbor School for the school years 2006-2008. In his free time, he served at the Drop-In Learning Center where he received his Head Teacher certification in the spring of 2008. Frank comes from a family of ministers that help Latino families in a local church and is an active Youth Leader. As he makes a transition to Alliance for Living, Frank states that his heart is in the community and in service to the minorities of Southeastern CT. He identifies well with the Hispanic and Black population and seeks to give support to those battling HIV/AIDS. He hopes his influence on youth will serve as a tool of prevention and advocacy to stop the spread of the virus. Email address: fsilva@allianceforliving.org
