Howie Newton brought his 14-year background in social and human services to the Alliance staff in January 2010. His work with special needs populations has included serving on the staffs of agencies dealing with at-risk and delinquent youth, drug treatment, mental health services and homeless shelters. He has even worked in mobile crisis intervention. Howie is especially committed to working with people living with HIV/AIDS. He has spoken at World AIDS Day events in New Haven, is a Red Cross-certified HIV educator, and served on the community advisory committee for Yale University’s Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS (CIRA). Howie holds an associate's degree in psychology from the University of Phoenix, and is pursuing courses through Grand Canyon University toward a bachelor’s degree in addiction counseling.
