Portia Wade
MAP Nurse
Portia joined Alliance in November 2010. Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Portia received a master’s degree in nursing education in 1989. She was trained as an HIV/AIDS educator in 1992 while in the U.S. Naval Reserves, after returning from a tour of duty in Desert Storm. Since then she has worked in hospital and community settings with people living with HIV/AIDS. Portia volunteers in the community through her church at the St Vincent DePaul soup kitchen in Norwich, and in clothing and food drives. In 2005 she participated in a humanitarian mission to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Portia says, “I look forward to meeting ya’ll and assisting you in any way with your medications by med and appointment reminders, or with any nutritional concerns.”
