NLC Cares/HCWH
NLC Cares stands for New London County Coordinated Access Resources Engagement and Support.
We provide access to treatment and recovery support systems for individuals living with substance use disorder and their families.
Our belief is that everyone living with substance use disorder deserves equal, easy, and timely access to evidence based treatment and support to address barriers to stability including housing, employment, social/family connectedness, and physical health.

The navigators develop relationships with people in our community and support them in their goals and individual needs.
They provide overdose prevention education, referrals to evidence-based treatment in our community and saturate our community with naloxone while removing barriers to treatment and help to reduce stigma.

We use a harm reduction approach, and our goal is neither abstinence nor treatment for our participants.
Our focus is on developing relationships, providing support in a non-judgmental manner, and educating the people we work with on how to use safer and address overdose.
If in the course of our work participants indicate they are ready to address their use, we will work with them to access the treatment they are interested in.

Our work is confidential, and you can reach us at 860-333-3494.
If you know anyone struggling with their substance use or needing information on overdose prevention, or a family member in need of support please give them this number to call.
